FACTS ABOUT THE CRYSTALS

Red Jasper has been used as a gemstone for centuries in many cultures; for ancient Egyptians, it was a powerful stone with an important spiritual significance. The most notable location where this semi-precious stone is excavated today is Cave Creek (Arizona, USA). Jasper is an opaque variety of Chalcedony and it comes in a wide range of colors, including red.

Green Chalcedony is an attractive and highly popular variety of Chalcedony that gets its apple-green color from its nickel content. It consists of a number of randomly oriented small crystals; thanks to these microcrystals, green Chalcedony appears to transmit light constantly when rotating through 360 degrees. It is regularly cut into gems, beads, and cabochons. Green Chalcedony is a birthstone of May.

Pyrite often labelled "fool's gold" for its metallic luster and bright yellow shade, pyrite became infamous among prospectors for its seeming visual similarity to gold. However, pyrite is both abundant and relatively valueless, rendering it a poor substitute for the much more valuable gold. It is the most common sulfide mineral and will create sparks when struck against steel.

FACTS ABOUT THE BIRD

Budgerigar, a species of Parrots also known as the common pet  parakeet or shell parakeet, is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot usually nicknamed the budgie or in American English, the parakeet. Budgies are the only species in the genus Melopsittacus. Naturally, the species is green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings. Budgies are bred in captivity with coloring of blues, whites, yellows, greys, and even with small crests. Juveniles and chicks are monomorphic, while adults are told apart by their cere coloring, and their behavior.

Bred for numerous vibrant colors in captivity, the budgerigar only appears in wild populations in green—this way it camouflages best with surroundings. One of the most abundant parrot species in Australia, the "budgie" is a sociable bird that moves around in huge flocks. This nomadic species is able to fly hundreds of kilometers in search of food but it never ventures too far from water.
